Thornton and Tomasetti to be honored by Concrete Industry Foundation

The Concrete Industry Foundation, an educational fund that fosters excellence in design and construction through a scholarship and grant program for study in the concrete built environment, will present Dr. Charles Thornton and Richard Tomasetti, founding principals of Thornton Tomasetti, Inc., with the Foundation's Humanitarian Fellow Award at its annual awards luncheon. The presentation will be made September 17th at the New York Athletic Club. Chief among the reasons for their selection for this year's award is the recent establishment of the Thornton Tomasetti Foundation to support the education and community outreach activities of young engineers and architects. The foundation is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization with two primary missions: to fund fellowships, scholarships and internships for undergraduate students, and those planning to pursue graduate studies in building engineering, design or technology; and to provide financial support for individuals and organizations pursuing philanthropic activities related to building engineering, design or technology. The Concrete Industry Foundation Inc. (CIF) was established in 1993 to provide financial assistance to students preparing for careers in the design and construction industry, with special emphasis on study related to concrete. The Foundation provides scholarships and grants for study at the graduate, undergraduate, technical college and apprentice levels to residents of the New York City Metropolitan Area who are studying at accredited schools and programs in the United States. Since the first scholarships were awarded in 1996, the CIF has made 65 grants. All scholarships are funded without touching the Foundation's inviolate principal. The Foundation's work is supported by contributions from the design and construction industry, in particular from those involved in the many phases of concrete design and production. Thornton Tomasetti provides building engineering services to clients worldwide on projects of all sizes and complexity. From the tallest buildings and the longest spans, to innovative building systems and materials, the firm is committed to creating the best solutions through its technical ingenuity, pursuit of excellence, and responsiveness to client needs. Founded in 1956 as Lev Zetlin & Associates, today Thornton Tomasetti is a 650-person organization of engineers and architects, collaborating from offices across the United States and in Hong Kong, London, Moscow, and Shanghai. Services cover structural design, building evaluation, and remediation to optimize building efficiency and performance. Thornton Tomasetti mobilizes rapidly to provide disaster response investigations, and delivers expert consulting services and testimony for legal and insurance purposes.

The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking

For the past several years, the New York City multifamily housing market has been defined by disruption. The combined impact of the HSTPA rent laws and a sharply higher interest rate environment has fundamentally reduced

Tri-state capital migrates nationally amid regulation pressure - by Reese Weaver

New York tri-state multifamily investors are increasingly reallocating capital to less-regulated markets across the U.S. as rent control and legislative risk erode returns at home. With over 60% of New York City’s rental housing stock classified as rent-stabilized, the traditional value-add model — buying under-performing buildings,
