According to Richard Kessler, COO of Benenson Capital Partners, LLC, David Thomas has joined the firm in the position of chief accounting officer.
Thomas, a former partner and practice leader in the real estate audit and real estate consulting practices of Deloitte, will now direct the accounting, reporting and tax activities for Benenson Capital Partners as it continues to grow its diverse national and international commercial real estate portfolios.

Prior to joining Benenson Capital Partners, Thomas served as the CFO of Commonfund Realty Advisors, where he provided financial oversight of the company's $1.5 billion open ended value-add fund.
After joining Commonfund in January of 2009, Thomas successfully managed the operations of the Fund during a period of significant investment write-downs while directly assisting in the restructure of $800 million of debt instruments and related collateral.
Previously, Mr. Thomas spent more than a decade as a Partner at Deloitte in New York, where he rose to serve as the Practice Leader for the Northeast Real Estate Consulting group. In this capacity, he led a group of 30 real estate valuation specialists and appraisers, and managed the delivery of services relating to real estate investment analysis, appraisal and highest & best use studies and due diligence. His clients included institutional investment funds, REITs, developers and entrepreneurial owners/operators.

Mr. Thomas holds an MBA in Real Estate and Finance from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business, and Bachelor of Science degree (Cum Laude) in Management and Accounting from Duke University. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including ULI, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and NAREIM. Mr. Thomas and his family reside in Manhattan.
