SWBR celebrates completion of VOA Dental Center

SWBR Architects, a Rochester-based firm, unveiled the completion of the Volunteers of America (VOA) Dental Center located on Lake Ave. The dental clinic is the result of a significant partnership between Rochester General Health System and Volunteers of America of Western N.Y. It will allow children from low-income families who use the VOA center to receive free primary dental care. The dental center includes the design of 275 s/f of two dental exam rooms for children. The renovations and start-up costs were covered by grants including one from the Major League Baseball Players Foundation. SWBR Architects and LeChase Construction provided all architectural and construction management services pro bono. VOA received a grant for the construction portion of the project. "This dental clinic will provide more than 300 area children with services they otherwise would not have access to, such as dental check-ups," said Tom Covell, AIA of SWBR Architects. "After an entire year of planning and construction, the doors are finally open. We are proud to be part of this venture and know it will have a major impact on the Rochester community." The VOA assumed occupancy of the dental center on September 30.
