Sunrise Management & Consulting hires Schechter

Heather Schechter, Sunrise Management & Consulting Heather Schechter, Sunrise Management & Consulting

Albany, NY Sunrise Management & Consulting has hired Heather Schechter as director of marketing, enhancing the marketing services the company can provide.

Schechter’s hire has come as at an opportune time. For the last 18 years, Sunrise has focused on multifamily residential property management. Three years ago, Sunrise began investing in development projects, giving the company more control over the properties it manages to provide an even better customer experience.

As director of marketing, Schechter will oversee and manage marketing operations for Sunrise Management & Consulting, properties under management, Sunrise Realty Advisors, and the Sunrise Market Reports. She will coordinate and implement marketing communication projects that include public relations, special events management, advertising, brand management, internal & external communications, websites and client relations.

“It’s exciting to be part of a growing company that understands the importance of marketing and connecting with local communities,” said Schechter. “At the Homeroom Lofts ribbon-cutting event in May, it was so much fun to watch former Sand Lake students marvel that the building that once held their senior prom still contains school plaques in the hallway, and now also houses modern and inviting apartments. For our June groundbreaking at Draper Lofts apartments, we were thrilled to have about 300 community members join us for the ceremony and to raise funds for a not-for-profit: the Mohonasen Foundation for Excellence. Now I am excited to be working on marketing for a new apartment community in North Greenbush: Van Allen Apartments, which is a partnership with the Amedore Group. We’re researching ways to make this community more than pet-friendly: truly pet welcoming.”

“We believe the marketing function in today’s business world is key to our success as developers, investors, and managers,” says Jesse Holland, president of Sunrise Management & Consulting. “Heather’s expertise and insight will help us connect to the community and succeed in a competitive and more crowded market.”

After starting in her role at Sunrise in April, Schechter jumped right into planning and publicizing events at two of Sunrise’s development projects, which are conversions of old schools into apartments: Homeroom Lofts in Averill Park and Draper Lofts in Rotterdam. She is now planning marketing for another of Sunrise’s development projects, which is expected to begin leasing this fall: Van Allen Apartments in North Greenbush.

Connecting to the community has been a focus of Schechter’s personal and professional life. She is currently the co-president of the Iroquois Middle School Parent Teacher Organization in Niskayuna, where she lives with her husband and three children. Since 2014, she has served on the miSci Gala Committee. She is also a Trustee at Congregation Gates of Heaven.

Schechter brings to Sunrise her experience in marketing in both Albany and New York City. She comes to Sunrise Management & Consulting from Event Horizons, LLC, a company she launched in 2015 to provide marketing consulting services in the Capital Region. For Rueckert Advertising and Public Relations, she provided public relations support for the 2016 Saratoga Tour de Cure. For the Niskayuna Community Foundation’s 15th Anniversary Day of Service in 2015, she provided marketing and event coordination. Schechter’s agency experience includes roles as a Senior Account Executive and other positions at Sawchuk Brown Associates in Albany, and in New York City: DeVries Public Relations, Evins Communications, Savvy Management, and Edelman.

Schechter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Columbia College and a Master of Science degree in Education from the Sage Colleges.

The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
