The Hauppauge Industrial Park (HIP) is entering a new phase in its development, opening it up to innovative new uses and strengthening its position as an important economic bellwether for growth on L.I. After many years of collaboration between HIA-LI, the recognized voice for business on L.I. and the town to pass the necessary zoning changes, the Smithtown town board approved on July 14th a special overlay district status for the park. The new changes are intended to provide flexibility to allow the HIP to continue to be attractive for business development, making it competitive with other industrial areas in the region and nation.

The new zoning amendment allows for parking garages, outdoor storage and increases in building height among other important capabilities.
