Shrenkel hired as new CEO and executive director for Nassau County Industrial Development Agency

Mineola, NY The Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (NCIDA) has hired Sheldon Shrenkel to serve as The Agency’s new CEO and executive director. Shrenkel will be responsible for steering the NCIDA’s objectives of promoting sustainable, economic business growth and development strategies that help elevate and enhance the county’s competitiveness in New York state.

“Shelly brings a wealth of knowledge and business expertise to the Nassau IDA that will allow The Agency to continue attracting and retaining businesses to stimulate our local economy,” said Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman.

“We are proud to have someone with such an established skillset lead the Nassau IDA and continue our mission of building a more sustainable, diverse and robust economy,” said NCIDA chairman Richard Kessel. “Having been a business consultant for a significant portion of his career, Shelly is a welcomed asset that we are confident will drive The Agency’s agenda forward for the betterment of the county’s economy and its residents.”

Shrenkel comes to the NCIDA with more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry with a solid track record of accomplishments in the development and control of internal operations, as well as sales and management expertise. He also has an extensive background in industries related to the work of the NCIDA including commercial real estate, corporate financing, and mergers and acquisitions. Since 1996, Shrenkel has been the owner of Jacath & Shrenkel Assoc. where he was an independent consultant working with small to mid-sized companies to structure financing that fit their needs as well as providing financial products to bring them success. Prior to that, Shrenkel held several positions over his 21-year career with the Chrysler Capital Corp.

The Nassau County IDA offers many tax incentives that today’s businesses desire, so I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work bolstering our economy and supporting the growth of our business community, as well as employment opportunities for residents.”

The NCIDA is a public benefit corporation of the State of New York and is funded 100% by the transaction fees paid by its applicant clients, not through taxpayer dollars. 

The mission of the NCIDA is to support and promote economic development and employment opportunities in Nassau County by attracting new companies and industries, as well as assisting current businesses to grow and expand.
