Retro Fitness opens 14,300 s/f gym at Meadow Commons Shopping Center

Retro Fitness has opened a new 14,300 s/f gym in the East Meadow Commons shopping center located on the north side of Hempstead Tpke. at Wantagh Parkway. Headquartered in Colts Neck N.J., Retro Fitness is a 120-store chain with locations on the east coast from Massachusetts to Florida. Nassimi Realty began major renovations and expansion of the 52,000 s/f East Meadow Commons in 2006, converting a former roller skating rink into 30,000 s/f of retail space and a former Pep Boys center into a high end multi-store building. Other current tenants in the center include Joyce Leslie women's apparel, a Sherwin Williams paint store, a FedEx/Kinkos location, a Texas Roadhouse restaurant and a Floris Spa. Mike Nassimi, president of Nassimi Realty, said, "We're very pleased to have Retro Fitness as a new anchor for East Meadow Commons. Nassau County is a hot market and East Meadow fits our criteria for rehabilitating and repositioning older underperforming properties. We look forward to announcing the opening of additional stores in the near future."
