REISA honors four members with A Champion of Excellence awards: Joe Techar, Brandon Balkman, Sue Speidel and Daniel Oschin

The Real Estate Investment Securities Association (REISA) awarded four members with its fourth annual A Champion of Excellence (ACE) Award at its annual conference.
The ACE Awards recognizes members who exemplify outstanding achievement in the field of securitized real estate investments. These prestigious awards are given to companies and/or individuals who are leaders in the industry and who set their personal standards high, mentor others, push for industry improvement and volunteer their time for the benefit of the industry and members of REISA.
"We are honored to recognize these members with the annual ACE Awards for their outstanding conduct in the industry and volunteerism within REISA," Bill Winn, REISA president said. "REISA is dedicated to promoting the highest ethical standards to its members."
The winners of the 2009 ACE Award include Joe Techar, Brandon Balkman, Sue Speidel & Daniel Oschin.
Techar is a registered representative with Wildwood Wealth Management in Minneapolis, Minn. He is also a registered principal of CapitalQuest Securities Inc. and a partner in FactRight LLC. He has led the organization of recent REISA conferences in his role as co-chair of the planning committee.
Balkman is the national accounts manager for Orchard Securities in Sandy, Utah. During his tenure with Orchard Securities, he has worked with sponsors, broker-dealers and registered representatives and been an advocate for the advancement of the overall industry. He has volunteered for the REISA ethics and standards committee and due diligence and compliance committee where he was instrumental in creating the Best Practices Guide.
Speidel is the vice president of Inland Real Estate Exchange Corp. Since 1987, she has created marketing strategies and materials for various Inland funds and managed broker-dealer conference participation and in-house meetings. She has been active in REISA since its inception and now serves on the education and marketing committee overseeing the direction of all REISA webinars.
Oschin is the managing director at BGK Integrated Group and president of BGK Integrated Investment Services, where he is focused on brand cultivation and expanding and diversifying the company's offerings and access to capital. He took the lead in developing the agenda and 45 educational breakout sessions at the recent REISA conference while serving on the planning committee.
"REISA is an organization clearly driven by and focused on the needs of its members," said Joe Techar. "I am honored to have been recognized for my efforts."

ACE Award recipients receive the following: a special achievement award, use of the ACE Award logo and brand, recognition in FYI, REISA's publication and a waiver of next year's conference registration fee.
REISA recently launched an interactive, online job board, the REISA Career Center. With its focus on the real estate investment securities industry, the REISA Career Center offers its members and the entire real estate investment securities industry an easy-to-use and highly targeted resource for employment connections.
"We're very excited about the new REISA Career Center because we know how critical it is for employers to attract first-rate talent with a minimum expenditure of time and resources," said Katherine M. Finley, Executive Director. "We can now enable and empower our members and other industry professionals smooth career transitions and career development opportunities."
Both members and nonmembers can use the REISA Career Center to reach qualified candidates. Employers can post jobs online, search for qualified candidates based on specific job criteria and create an online resume agent to e-mail qualified candidates daily. Job seekers can post their resumes, browse and view available jobs based on specific criteria and save those jobs for later review if they choose. In addition, job seekers can create a search agent to provide e-mail notifications of jobs that match their criteria.
The Real Estate Investment Securities Association (REISA) has elected its 2010 Board of Directors. One new registered representative, two broker-dealers and two new sponsors were elected to serve on REISA's Board of Directors.
William Swayne III of WMS Financial Planners Inc. in Seattle, Washington was elected to serve a two-year term as a registered representative on the Board. He is the Director of DPP investments for the family of WMS companies including Accredited Solution, a national advisory firm providing advisory services to representatives and institutions. He handles the DPP investments and has been involved with assisting clients and advisors in all aspects of securitized investments.
In the broker-dealer category, Mark Kosanke, Professional Asset Management in Troy, Michigan, and Richard Chess, American Realty Capital Markets LLC in Richmond, VA, were both re-elected to serve two-year terms. Kosanke has over 25 years of accounting, tax and operations experience and over 20 years of securities experience in both equities and real estate. Chess has raised over $250 million, acquired 50,000 apartments, serves on a NYSE REIT (FPO) and previously served in the Pennsylvania State Legislature.
Daniel Oschin, BGK-Integrated Group in West Lake Village, California, and Patricia DelRosso, Inland Real Estate Exchange Corp. in Chicago, were elected to serve two-year terms as sponsor board members. Oschin is the Managing Director at BGK-Integrated Group where he focuses on expanding and diversifying the company's offerings and access to capital and brand cultivation. He has been active in all facets of the real estate industry for more than 20 years and has been involved in more than 200 securitized real estate programs. DelRosso serves as President of Inland Real Estate Exchange Corporation and President and Managing Broker of Inland Exchange Sales Corporation. During her 25 year tenure with Inland, she has spearheaded many types of real estate transactions, in all asset classes, including: sales, refinances, redevelopments, land developments, tax increment financings, condominium conversions and thousands of tax deferred exchanges. DelRosso has served on REISA's Board since 2002 in many capacities, including president.
"We are pleased to add these new members to our Board of Directors," said Renee Brown, incoming REISA President. "Our new Board members bring exceptional experience, balance and new perspectives that will guide the association and overall real estate securities industry in 2010."
The Board of Directors will elect its new officers in January 2010.
As per REISA's bylaws, sponsor members vote for sponsor candidates; broker-dealer members vote for broker-dealer candidates and individual members vote for registered representative candidates.
