Racanelli Construction named general contractor for $18 million NSLIJ project

Racanelli Construction Company, Inc. has been named the general contractor for the construction of a 48,000 s/f, one floor cancer treatment center for NSLIJ located at 440 East Main St. The project involves the demolition of existing walls, slab, roofing and roof deck and removal of asbestos-containing materials. The construction will include: a Linac vault, enabling a less heavily shielded door system and space optimizing concrete walls; metal stud framing and gypsum board; and composite plank siding. The build out of the cancer treatment center will encompass the construction of imaging, radiology, medical oncology, and infusion rooms. The project will utilize the facility's existing block building with a new façade. The new structure will be LEED-Certified and will reflect an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Construction Plan, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan and a Construction Waste Management Plan. The project, valued at $18 million, is slated for completion by the end of this year. Members of Racanelli Construction serving on the project include: project executive Richard Racanelli, project manager Steve Peragallo, assistant project manager Daniel Delahunty and field supervisor Ray Riha. Southside Hospital is a 341-bed tertiary hospital offering centers of excellence in cardiology, orthopedics, neuroscience and women's health services. As part of the North Shore-LIJ health system, NSLIJ offers its award-winning cardiac surgery program with a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room combining a fuall range of interventional, imaging and surgical services in one location. Racanelli Construction's Cancer Treatment Center project is one of many projects for the North Shore-LIJ Health System. The company also constructed its Syosset Imaging Center and Great South Bay Imaging Center over the past few years.
