Quinn & Feiner Service Company, Inc. (QFS), a well established high efficiency, custom HVAC installation and true 24/7 service company in the New York area, recognizes the importance of local businesses' community involvement, particularly as it relates to our youth and workforce development. The company is a current participant in the United Way's YouthBuild Long Island. This free, youth and community development program and alternative school, was designed to address critical issues facing the region's low-income communities including: housing, education, employment, crime prevention, and leadership development. For its part, QFS is helping a young man from Central Islip, Jayson Carr, through mentoring and training for a mechanic's position working on building and servicing high efficiency systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Training initiatives such as this one at QFS are exactly what the United Way program emphasizes.
According to the program's promotional literature, "YouthBuild places a strong focus on Green collar job opportunities in Energy Efficiency, Renewables, Weatherization, Energy Star construction, and Home Performance." QFS's program reflects the integrated academic and life skill curriculum objectives of the YouthBuild program.
"The YouthBuild program is an outstanding opportunity for local businesses to contribute to the growth and development of young people in our community who otherwise might not have the ability to overcome their economic disadvantages and succeed. We at QFS are proud to be participating in YouthBuild Long Island and encourage other area businesses to get on board. It is very rewarding experience on many levels," said QFS chief engineer Ted Bier
