Birthplace: Victoria, Canada Education: University of Calgary, Actuarial Science First job outside of real estate: I came to New York after graduation to be an actuary and first worked at Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson) as a pension actuary. First job in real estate or allied field: I started UGE in 2008, a career switch from finance towards sustainability. What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? In the past five years we've grown UGE into a leader in the field of distributed renewable energy, deploying solutions in roughly 80 countries around the world. We are focused on using onsite renewable energy to help customers with energy costs, energy security, and sustainability. How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? I am an avid hockey fan, playing at Chelsea Piers as well as cheering on my hometown Canucks. Favorite book or author: Jim Collins Favorite movie: "Oblivion" - One of our wind turbines powers Tom Cruise's cabin in the movie. Last song you purchased/downloaded? Good question. Probably Bruno Mars' most recent album. One word to describe your work environment: Open. Rules to live by in business: Develop a productive and enjoyable culture with a purpose. If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead) who would it be and where would you go? My grandmother was a real inspiration growing up but passed away ten years ago. We'd go eat fish and chips. What is your dream job? I'm living it.
