Islandia, NY Forte Construction Corp., a leading general contracting firm involved in significant transit and public works projects throughout downstate N.Y., has completed its new headquarters.
After 45 years operating out of an 8,000 s/f facility in Holbrook, Forte, in collaboration with its sister companies TAP Electric and BR Construction, determined it was time to expand their footprint, providing modern facilities for their 300 employees. The company purchased an existing 30,000 s/f, three-story building on 2.08 acres at 1770 Motor Pkwy. in 2021.
Over two years, Forte executed substantial upgrades to the space, including a comprehensive gut and remodel of its first two floors, significant structural modifications, and exterior enhancements.
The upper floors offer a range of private offices, cubicles, and meeting rooms, all equipped with standing desks, ergonomic chairs, and various amenities. Project Manager Ryan Scheubel led the team, which comprised numerous subcontractors, in executing a complete interior renovation. This resulted in a cutting-edge facility featuring conference rooms with built-in iPads, multiple kitchenettes, environmentally friendly plumbing fixtures, and a revamped elevator. Scheubel’s team also installed precast panels around the building’s columns and enhanced the windows with an aluminum storefront design.
Vice president Jeffery Cardillo said, “Our teams lead some of the most vital construction projects across the New York City and Long Island region – everything from new school construction to sustainability efforts combating climate change, to increasing ADA accessibility in Penn Station and throughout the MTA system. A special sense of pride comes from working on the facility that our own company will use daily. Our new facility is refreshed and sharp, and we look forward to all our colleagues experiencing it for themselves.”
Forte Construction will occupy its new headquarters in Islandia, while also maintaining ownership of the Holbrook facility for warehousing, logistics, and future expansion purposes.
“Following many successful years in our Holbrook facility, it became clear that our ever-expanding team required more space and a state-of-the-art facility to serve our clients across the New York Metropolitan Area,” said Larry Pappas, president of Forte Construction. “We look forward to officially opening this new facility and beginning a new era for our firm.”
Forte Construction, renowned for diverse projects across NYC and Long Island, collaborates with key government agencies like MTA, LIRR, NYCHA, NYCTA, and DASNY. TAP Electric, an electrical contractor founded in 1969, collaborates with numerous public agencies, particularly those within the MTA. BR Construction, a general contractor specializing in high-end residential and commercial construction, renovation, and remodels, complements Forte and its sister companies. Forte and its affiliates also maintain permanent offices in Manhattan and Queens.
