One thing on my bucket list: Personally, the item that stands out most on my bucket list is the desire to travel – I have a list of over 50 countries that I’m still interested in visiting. Learning their unique cultural insights, exports, and nuances while experimenting with language is a personal passion of mine, and I’m fascinated by the process of learning about different cultures in truly authentic ways. I recently returned from a trip to Guatemala, where I learned about the tradition and practices of indigenous textile making while honing my Spanish speaking skills. This love of travel and desire to learn about the history and processes of local makers carries over to the work I do in the office as well, providing an endless source of inspiration in all facets of my design work. Professionally, my biggest bucket list item would be to have the opportunity to work on an interior hospitality project with a client that is sustainable from the ground-up. Full freedom in regards to timeline, sourcing, and sustainable elements would be a dream come true, and I’d love the opportunity to ensure that all products, materials, and finishes are ethically sourced. 

When I am not working, I am: Typically outside, experimenting with my private garden and tending to my plants. I’ve spent a lot of time learning about the ecology and best practices surrounding urban farming, and I’m lucky enough to have a front yard big enough to accommodate several planting beds. Beyond the garden, I love to travel and am constantly searching for my next destination. I also spend as much time as possible with family and friends. Finally, I am an avid reader and yoga-enthusiast, both of which are some of my go-to’s when it comes to destressing. 

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? The first project that comes to mind is an amenity space I helped complete for the National Basketball Association’s newly updated NY headquarters. As project architect, it was rewarding to see the space honored in Interior Design’s Best of Year awards program, especially with a storied client like the NBA. The project was notable as we helped the organization envision a 7,300 s/f, amenity-rich, hospitality-inspired space that reflects their overarching brand identity, providing them with an energetic hub aimed at fostering greater connection. The broader, 180,000 s/f facility also earned LEED Silver certification.
