What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?
I recently took over a real property tax appeal from another firm which had been handling it for years with no movement. The case was complex, as it involved six total lots, containing a mixture of both waterfront and non-waterfront vacant land, and two waterfront lots with large, exceptional homes. I personally researched the values of each lot, negotiated a settlement with the Nassau County attorney, and obtained a substantial settlement.
Top three things on your bucket list:
Go off-the grid camping with my wife and daughter in Montana; drive a tractor; and travel to Egypt and the Maldives.
Who was/is your mentor and how did s/he influence/help you in your career?
My father, David, was the biggest influence on my career. At a young age, he instilled in me the confidence necessary to get an education and climb the professional ladder. He encouraged me to do everything in my ability to become the best at whatever career I chose. Due to his guidance and support, I was the first in my family to attend college and obtain a degree, and eventually move from my small rural hometown in New Hampshire to Long Island.
How do you contribute to your community or your profession?
I have been a volunteer firefighter with the East Meadow Fire Department for the last nine years. I have been elected as the recording secretary of Ladder Company 2 and elected as chairman of both the Installation and Fund Drive Committees. Additionally, I provide pro bono property tax exemption assistance and representation, when necessary, for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities.
What led you to your current profession?
The field our firm specializes in combines several disciplines that are of interest to me. Specifically, real estate valuation, income capitalization, negotiations, and client interaction.
