Manhattan, NY Building and construction company Omnibuild has officially commenced construction at 122 Fifth Ave. in Union Sq. Partnering with developer Bromley Companies and STUDIOS Architecture, the full-scale renovation seeks to modernize the historic building from the inside out.
The gut renovation will feature new MEP systems and equipment and passenger elevators with touchless technology. Brick masonry and precast stone will clad a new, 10-story addition along 17th St. to match that of the existing building’s landmarked façade. The main roof will include a new single-story steel and glass enclosed pavilion pop-up, surrounded by green space, landscape lighting and seating areas.

Located in the historic Ladies Mile District, 122 Fifth Ave. was constructed in 1899 by architect Robert Maynicke and real estate developer Henry Corn. The T-shaped building was later designated a New York City Landmark on May 2, 1989, included with a variety of buildings that reflected the changing nature of retailing commerce and manufacturing.
