Spotlights
GBC announced the seven winners of the 2008 GBC Safety Excellence Award. GBC member firms are required to meet certain criteria to even apply for the award (EMR less than 1.0 and incident rate 25% below the national average), so just being able to apply is an accomplishment in itself.
Those applications meeting the criteria are reviewed by a jury of industry professionals, and random jobsite inspections are conducted. The applications must also include a five-year history of hours worked, OSHA logs, and a description of the company's safety program and its implementation in the field.
