Brooklyn, NY Quarters, a leading global co-living operator, celebrated the opening of a new modern co-living home in the city. Located at 186 North 6th St. in the Williamsburg neighborhood, the 41,000 s/f property features 160 bedrooms in suites and duplex units. The Williamsburg property is Quarters’ fourth location in the city, joining locations in the Lower East Side, East Village, and Bedford-Stuyvesant. The new property is part of Quarters’ expansion across the U.S. in response to the rise in demand for affordable, flexible, serviced living options.
Converting what formerly functioned as a school, Quarters in partnership with property owner Dweck Equities reimagined the building with Marvel Architects to create an elegantly designed space for renters to live, work and connect seamlessly. The home blends the historic features of the building, including the original brick facade on North 6th and limestone entrance, with state-of-the-art modern living spaces and amenity spaces, including:
- 6,000 s/f outdoor roof deck with 360? views of the Manhattan skyline, Williamsburg Bridge and Brooklyn;
- A co-working café;
- Community space with couches and tables; and
- A cinema-style screening room.
The rooftop includes Weber barbecues, an outdoor sink and shower, multiple seating areas and a 60-ft. canopy for shade.
In addition, the home features custom-built lofted rooms with 15-ft. ceilings and duplex units with private outdoor space.
Providing for the flexibility that renters are increasingly looking for, this location offers lease terms ranging from three to 12 months.
“Even in the midst of a pandemic, this new Williamsburg location demonstrates our confidence in the New York City market and our continued push to bring flexible living options to more communities across the U.S.,” said Quarters co-CEO and COO Rui Barros. “Our Williamsburg location offers renters high-end living at attainable prices as well as working and amenity spaces under a single roof in the heart of one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Brooklyn. We’re excited to welcome new residents to this beautiful property and to grow the Quarters community in New York City.”
“With COVID-19 keeping us isolated from our loved ones, many people have realized how important community is in our daily lives,” said Quarters co-CEO and CMO Esther Bahne. “Interest in co-living has risen rapidly as people look to move in with their friends and connect with an inner circle. With the opening of our Williamsburg home, we are providing our members with the opportunity to build new connections both within our four walls and beyond them, as we partner with the small businesses that make our neighborhoods so unique.”
Williamsburg has become one of the most desired locations to live in in New York City, with an eclectic mix of renowned restaurants, cutting edge fashion and storied local businesses.
Located at North 6th and Driggs Ave., the Williamsburg home is within walking distance to green spaces, like McCarren Park and Domino Park, and just a block away from the Bedford Ave. L train subway stop, providing access to Manhattan and Greenpoint. The home is also central to countless neighborhood eateries, bars and shops, such as Lilia, St. Anselm, McNally Jackson Books, Brooklyn Winery and more, that have made Williamsburg a must-visit destination.
“The opening of our new Williamsburg property is purpose-built as an elegant, modern rental in one of New York’s most exciting neighborhoods, and we could not think of a better partner on this project than Quarters,” said David Dweck of Duke Equities. “Quarters has been a pleasure to work with, from acquisition, to leasing, to design. They are a tremendously talented group, and we look forward to collaborating on other properties that Duke Equities develops.”
