What was your most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2019?
Our most notable projects in 2019 were both in the supermarket sector. First, was the Stop & Shop Supermarkets takeover of the King Kullen supermarket chain. With this acquisition, look for Stop & Shop to be the largest grocery player on Long Island. The second was welcoming a new client, LiDL, to the NYC and Long Island areas as they purchased and are re-branding Best Market locations.
What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2020?
For 2020, “out of the box” thinking will be the key to tenanting vacant retail stores. Subdividing large anchor spaces into inviting destinations, in particular, has become one of RDG’s specialties. Look for more “mixed-use” (residential and commercial) as this convenience-style of use will assist brokers who continue to struggle filling these spaces. Family activity destinations such as swim centers, wall climbing, and indoor trampoline-style parks will continue to be all the rage.
What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2019?
Our combined greatest accomplishment at RDG in 2019 was the continuation of securing excellent talent to supplement our fantastic staff, with the overall goal of providing complete client satisfaction.
