NYS lieutenant governor Kathy Hochul visited award-winning Crystal Window & Door Systems' headquarters and factory on July 1st. During the visit, Hochul viewed the factory floor operations, met with Crystal founder and CEO Thomas Chen, and his son Steve Chen, Crystal's COO, and greeted some of the staff. NYS governor Andrew Cuomo sent a congratulatory letter on the 25th anniversary milestone for the window manufacturer, which Hochul presented to the Chens.
During the meeting, Crystal provided an overview of the company's national scope, including some of the economic challenges that New York City-based mid- and large-scale manufacturers face when competing nationally. This offered Hochul an opportunity to understand in greater detail the needs and goals of manufacturers in this urban region.
"It was a pleasure to meet with lieutenant governor Hochul and show her our Queens, N.Y. operation," said Steve Chen. "We found her attention and thoughtful questions to our challenges quite positive. She invited us to continue discussions on this with her and others in the Cuomo Administration in the coming weeks, which we certainly plan to do."
Accompanying the lieutenant governor on this visit were Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, NY State Assemblyman Michael Simanowitz, and NY State Senator Toby Stavisky, who helped arrange the Lieutenant Governor's visit.
