The Greater New York chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) held their annual dinner and awards on January 23rd at The Water's Edge in Long Island City. The chapter honored Jodi Pulice as their Real Estate Person of the Year. Pulice is the founder and president of JRT Realty, Group, Inc., a woman-owned, full-service commercial real estate services firm. The firm is certified as a minority and woman-owned business enterprise (M/WBE) by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and National Minority Business Council (NMBC). Pulice said, "Some say that I have a lofty goal, but it is one that I have been pursuing with enjoyment for more than. 25 years...My wish is that one day there is no longer a need for a woman or minority business to become certified to compete for business. My real goal is to be able to but on the uniform, play on the same team solely based on the fact that I know the game and can play it just as well and sometimes even better than some. And I am not being measured by my gender or may race. Then and only then have we all succeeded." Other award winners included: * Gail Duke, CPM and second VP at New York Metropolitan Life Management, was honored as IREM's Certified Property Manager of the Year. * Timothy Stapleton, ARM, a senior property manager with NAI Long Island, was the recipient of the Accredited Residential Manager of the Year Award. * Richard Silver, president of American Pipe & Tank Lining Co., Inc. was the recipient of the Industry Partner of the Year Award.
