Anthony Schirripa, FAIA, IIDA, Chairman and CEO of Mancini•Duffy/TSC, was honored for his service to the city and the industry at the New York Building Congress 2013 Industry Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, November 12 at the Grand Hyatt.
Schirripa has been especially active in the architectural community, serving in leadership positions at the AIA New York Chapter since 2001, including as president of the chapter in 2010; and is currently serving a three-year term as New York Regional Director on the AIA National board of directors. He has been a member of the board of directors of the New York Building Congress since 1985 and served as vice chair/architecture from 2008 - 2010. Schirripa is also a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA).
Schirripa has been a driving force in Mancini•Duffy/TSC's transformation from a mid-sized local design practice to a large multi-discipline architecture firm with a diversified client base and a national reputation. His emphasis on strategic planning, investments in technology, training and continuing education, and his businesslike approach to project and practice management are the foundation for the firm's growth.
In his acceptance speech at the dinner, Schirripa quoted Ada Louise Huxtable "a city, in its most real sense, is its buildings." He went on to say " New York is, by any measure, one of the world's great cities, with many of the world's greatest buildings. And what it takes to make a great city like ours is teamwork - the kind of teamwork embodied by The New York Building Congress."
The other honorees recognized at this year's dinner included Delta Air Lines senior vice president Gail Grimmett; Robert Mann Jr. and Anthony Mann of E-J Electric Installation Co.; and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, represented by executive director Patrick Foye.
