Polen joins Hunt Mortgage as managing director, capital markets

New York, NY According to Hunt Mortgage Group, a leader in financing commercial real estate throughout the United States, Barry Polen has joined the firm as managing director, capital markets. In this role, he will focus on expanding Hunt Mortgage Group’s capital markets activities and its commercial lending business nationwide.

Polen comes to Hunt Mortgage from Guggenheim Securities in N.Y., where he was a managing director.  In that role he was the head of the commercial real estate debt trading desk and also worked with Guggenheim’s commercial real estate finance group on their securitization activities. He will operate out of the firm’s N.Y. office and will report to Jon Trauben, senior managing director.

“Barry is an experienced, senior real estate finance executive that brings nearly 30 years of industry and management experience to his new role at Hunt Mortgage Group,” noted Trauben.  “He is well known in the industry and has an impressive track record of success.  We are pleased to have Barry join our team and look forward to tapping his expertise and leadership in growing our capital markets operation nationwide.”

Prior to Guggenheim, Polen was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, where he was the head of CMBS Capital Markets, a role he had for almost nine years.   Before that he was a Vice President with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he served as a CMBS Bond Structurer.  Earlier in his career he held positions at Morgan Stanley, and Ernst & Whinney.

Polen earned a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.  He is also a Certified Public Account.
