Picone Construction breaks ground for Veterinary hospital

January 07, 2020 - Upstate New York

Tonawanda, NY Green Acres Veterinary Medical Center held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new addition. Speakers of the event were Dr. Kim Parkhill of Green Acres Animal Hospital, Dave Nardozzi of Silvestri Architects PC and Christopher Picone of Picone Construction Corp.

The preliminary drawing that was presented to the town was approved for expansion last year. The current hospital was built in 2004 and is currently 4,500 s/f. The approval was for an additional 12,136 s/f. This addition will allow the hospital to centralize its’ staff from four other locations.

The building, which will be named Green Acres Veterinary Medical Center once finished, will consist of a two-story addition to be constructed to the North of the existing Green Acres Animal Hospital. The Veterinary Medical Center will remain operable 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout construction.

Picone Construction Corp. was awarded the general construction contract by Green Acres Veterinary Medical Center to complete the construction of the addition to their facility at 2060 & 2080 Niagara Falls Blvd. Major work includes demolition of 2080 Niagara Falls Blvd., sitework, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and construction of the entire project.

Picone Construction selected Silvestri Architects PC as the architect for this project.

Dr. Kim Parkhill stressed the importance of a much-needed addition so they can continue to provide the best for their clients, patients and the community. She said, “Over the years, we have continued to grow, and Dr. Corey Beisinger was one of the first of our colleagues to join Dr. Sara and I. We are now a veterinary team of seven including Dr. Jamie Rottstock, Dr. Cody Howard, Dr. Wendy Clark, and Dr. Jeffrey Tingue. To our clients, the members of the community, and to those who have entrusted us with the care of their pets, we are and will forever be grateful for your continued commitment to your practice. You are our greatest achievement and we are building this for you.” She closed her speech with a quote from Jane Goodall “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
