Peyton and Leavitt to manage Plaza Construction's Washington, D.C. office
Plaza Construction Corp. opened a permanent office in Virginia on May 17. Located at 2200 Clarendon Blvd., the office is co-managed by Daniel Peyton and Michael Leavitt and serve projects in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore-metro areas.
Plaza first entered the area in 2002, acting as the owner's representative for the construction of Station Place, a 1.5 million s/f private office development and co-developed/owned by Fisher Brothers and Louis Dreyfus Property Group.
Plaza Construction Corp. is owned by members of the Fisher family.
Immediately following Station Place, Plaza represented the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in the construction of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) in Bethesda, Md. opening this coming June. The project is a 72,000 s/f rehabilitation hospital located on the grounds of the Naval Medical Center that will provide ehabilitation services to members of the armed forces diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries.
"The opening of our new DC office underscores Plaza's commitment to the region following the successful completion of Station Place as well as the forthcoming opening of NICoE, both of which served as entries to the marketplace. We already have many more projects in the pipeline and are confident there will be a plethora of new business opportunities as the economy recovers," said Richard Wood, president of Plaza Construction.
Peyton and Leavitt, who combined have more than 50 years of industry experience, will be responsible for overseeing the growth and management of the office. They have, separately, worked on such projects in the D.C. area as Midtown Reston Town Center, Pentagon Row and the Ritz Carlton, Inner Harbor. Both Peyton and Leavitt are longtime local residents and active members of the Washington Building Congress, District of Columbia Building Industry Association, and other influential regional industry organizations.
"We are very excited to finally have a permanent base in the Washington D.C. metro area," said Peyton. "We firmly believe that the Plaza owner/builder legacy for Fisher Brothers' portfolio of projects will differentiate us in the D.C. market, based on our track record of building high quality projects tailored to suit both the public and private sectors."
"Strategically, the metro D.C. area is a natural new market for us, after New York, Miami and Los Angeles," said Leavitt. "We understand the logistics of doing business in this unique market where more than in any other urban setting, government projects are equally as important as corporate development."
