Peek joins AKRF as senior technical director
According to AKRF, a planning, environmental and engineering consulting firm, Nina Peek, AICP has joined the firm as a senior technical director. Since its inception 30 years ago, AKRF has proven a trusted partner in the development and revitalization of municipalities and communities throughout the Hudson Valley. A seasoned planner and project manager, Peek brings with her more than 17 years of public and private sector planning experience. Her expertise in zoning and New York's SEQRA process will help to strengthen and expand AKRF's planning services in the Hudson Valley.
"AKRF is excited to welcome Nina to our team as a Senior Technical Director," said Ed Applebome, president of AKRF. "Nina's wealth of experience and expertise will be invaluable as AKRF expands its planning services throughout the region."
Peek serves as the chairperson of the Amenia (NY) Planning Board. Peek also became a member of the Board of the New York Planning Federation (NYPF) and was appointed regional director for the Low-Mid Hudson Valley on June 4th. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Planning from Cornell University.
Prior to AKRF, Peek was with Saccardi & Schiff/VHB, where she was responsible for the Master Plan and SEQRA review for the PepsiCo World Headquarters in Purchase. This Master Plan incorporated sustainable Best Management Practices based on LEED criteria for stormwater management design.
She successfully secured environmental approvals for mixed-use and residential projects in Towns and Villages including Monroe, Bronxville, and New Rochelle. Peek also prepared the Master Plan for the Town of Stanford, the Omega Institute in the Town of Clinton, the Village of Highlands and the Town of Highland Falls, and the Recreation Master Plan for the Town of Pleasant Valley.
"AKRF has earned a reputation for its ability to develop plans that benefit communities and their residents, and promote smart growth, and I believe that is a testament to the diverse and knowledgeable team the firm has developed in its 30 years," said Peek. "I am thrilled to be part of this outstanding team."
AKRF offers the public and private sector a full range of municipal and regional planning services, including comprehensive master plans to zoning studies. Other services include community design, downtown revitalization, economic development, natural resource assessments, permits and entitlements, site plan review, municipal engineering services, and waterfront development.
With its wide range of practice areas at its disposal, AKRF is able to leverage the experience and expertise of its planners, traffic engineers, landscape architects, hazardous materials specialists, and other environmental professionals to conduct analyses that are sensitive to the issues that can influence a project's performance, and that can stand up to the scrutiny of public and judicial reviews.
