How do you manage the work/life balance?
Juggling work, family and church can pose a great deal of demand on my time and my energy. However, it comes with the territory, especially for those of us in the real estate arena and we learn strategies that help us adjust accordingly. Professionals often have to give up personal time in order to connect to the right people or get introductions to them.
Balance is created when we are intentional about our time and how we spend it. For me balancing occurs when I schedule quality time with my family in addition to my other responsibilities. Spending quality time outside of my work with friends and family is critical to a healthy balance. We can make more money, but in this time of post 9/11 we cannot buy back more time with our loved ones. Most professionals have the luxury of staying connected with their office through today's mobile technology, but we need to be careful that we do not allow technology to replace our personal interactions with our clients as well as our families. Balancing work and life for me means scheduling quality time at least once a week to go home early enough to have dinner with my spouse and talk to my grandchildren on the phone before they go to bed.
Developing a strategy for dealing with the various responsibilities and demands will help us achieve a more balanced life.
