Pam Parsons - The benefits of utilizing "green clean"

Spanier Building Maintenance together with building owners and their facility management teams are seeking to improve the environment in which we all live in. One of the first steps a building can choose is to "green clean" a measure which is not going to cost a lot but in the long run will help the planet. Green cleaning is often misunderstood; it is actually composed of environmentally preferable or reduced risk products, techniques and maintenance scheduling. While there are many benefits to green cleaning, the following represents a short list of reasons: * Improve indoor air quality * Allowing for a healthier working place for the tenants and workers * Increase work productivity * Improve morale * Reduce sick days and associated health costs * Minimize exposure to aggressive chemicals * No ozone depleting compounds * Reduce water and air pollution * Reduce waste with concentrated products * Reduce package waste with recyclable packaging * Clean without sacrificing effectiveness Going green is easier than ever! The products truly clean and are competitively priced, for example we utilize the following green products in our everyday cleaning: * All purpose cleaner * Glass cleaner * Restroom cleaner * Neutral disinfectant cleaner * Carpet cleaner * Industrial cleaner * Floor finish remover * Floor seal & finish A green clean program can be developed in any size office building, school, day care centers, etc. Cleaning should always be a regularly scheduled maintenance plan that will reduce exposure to harmful chemicals that can endanger all of the building occupants and visitors. Spanier Building Maintenance also offers "Green Seal" restroom products and trash can liners. These are environmentally preferred products by "Green Seal Inc." Restroom products are 100% recycled (recovered after papermaking process) and are not bleached using chlorine or any of its derivatives. The packaging does not contain inks, dyes, pigments or any other additives. Trash can liners are made with annually renewable resources and are available is assorted sizes and gauges and are natural in color and come as coreless rolls. Using these items offers a significant reduction in the use of oil/gas, greenhouse gas emissions and water usage when compared to traditional polyethylene. Pamela Parsons is the president of Spanier Building Maintenance, Syosset, N.Y.
