Lantern Real Estate
What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am proud of recently closing the construction financing for a large limited service hotel in South Florida. I felt a sense of ownership for the deal and was proud of my ability to problem solve through the deal. I also developed a relationship with a new lender for Lantern in Florida and a new client who has already awarded Lantern two additional deals.
Tell us about a mentor or role model that has influenced your career choices? Tyler Grant is a friend and mentor from University of Connecticut. Tyler introduced me to the real estate major at UConn and is often someone I reach out to when I have questions about the industry. He previously worked with Rory Shepherd at Goedecke & Co. and influenced me to start in brokerage.
What is one lesson that you had to learn the hard way? On large industrial financing, I forgot to send some diligence information to the lender in a timely manner. The lender followed up directly with the client, who was able to provide the information. However, given we pride ourselves in running all aspects of the transaction, this mistake prompted me to (i) complete a task immediately if I have the information readily available, or (ii) write down that I need to follow up.
What 3 skills do you consider the most important to be successful in your industry? Strong communication skills. Persistence. The ability to think critically/plan ahead.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Outside of work I enjoy working out, running, socializing with friends, and spending as much time on the water as possible (boating, paddle boarding, swimming, etc.).
