Since joining Goldberg & Connolly in 2006, Ortmann has concentrated on all aspects of the construction industry, representing general contractors (heavy highway and vertical building contractors), construction managers, public owners and government agencies, private owners and developers, subcontractors, construction suppliers, manufacturers and design professionals. Ortmann is also certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED green associate.

Ortmann is active in several industry associations such as the General Contractors Association's (GCA); their law and legislative committees; the Subcontractors Trade Association (STA); and the U.S. Green Building Council. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Long Island Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).
As a frequent presenter at industry forums and events on construction matters critical to the public contracting industry, Ortmann speaks on such topics as M/WBE good faith compliance; getting paid and the prompt pay act; and delay claim notice and recordkeeping requirements.
Ortmann received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1994. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1990. Ortmann is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in New York State.
