I’d like to thank John Lavelle (Hudson Valley) who served as president of NYSCAR for the past two years. John did an outstanding job of leading NYSCAR and I look forward to his continued participation and support of the organization for the future. The NYSCAR board of governors will hold their first meeting of the year at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center on Sunday, February 7. Officers and governors will be installed at the meeting (Brian DiNardo, president, RAC; Guy Blake, CCIM, Hudson Valley: First VP; James Walker, CCIM, Hudson Valley; Second VP; Ed Gallacher, CCIM, treasurer, Syracuse Area and Dana Crocker, secretary, Syracuse Area. Governors: Richard Ferro, CCIM, Greater Capital; Karen Klecar, So. Tier; Robert Strell, WNY; and Mark Rohlin, RAC). Committee Service If you have not yet signed up for committee service, please consider joining an association committee.  There are several different committees: education, professional standards or legislative to name a few. There is something for everyone. Please go to www.nyscar.org to sign up. Annual Conference at a new location This year we are holding the 15th Annual NYS Commercial Real Estate Conference in Syracuse at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center, June 13 - 15. The Planning Committee, chaired by Guy Blake, CCIM, has been meeting via conference call for the past few months to plan all the details for the event. The marketing/investment session will be held for a full day and will be moderated by James Wilson, CCIM (Florida) and Chuck Sutherland, SEC (Texas).  This event is a great opportunity to find properties for your clients and to network with your colleagues from across New York State as well as other areas of the country. There will also be commercial education courses so that you can earn continuing education credit.  Topics will include technology, environmental issues, marketing  and you will also be able to fulfill your code of ethics requirement for your NAR membership by taking a three hour code of ethics class. If you know of a company that would benefit from sponsoring or exhibiting at the meeting, please let us know by contacting Ali Mann at [email protected] or Sherry Marr at [email protected] . There are several sponsorship levels available.  Sponsors are also able to network with the membership during the cocktail reception and other meal functions. As always, we look forward to hearing from the membership. If you have an idea or want to get involved by serving on a committee, please get in touch with us. There are also seven NYSCAR chapters throughout the state and they are working hard to serve the members in the various locations throughout the state (Greater Capital, Metro Long Island, Hudson Valley, So. Tier, Rochester Area, Syracuse Area and Western NY). Best wishes for a good year ahead. Brian DiNardo is the president of NYSCAR and is a N.Y.S. licensed real estate broker, DiNardo Realty Corp., East Rochester, N.Y.
