NorthMarq Capital hires Murray as senior vice president/senior director

New York, NY According to NorthMarq Capital, Andy Murray, a structured finance expert with more than 30 years of experience placing institutional and private equity in commercial real estate projects, has joined NorthMarq as senior vice president/senior director.

“Andy’s extensive equity background adds yet another dimension to the already diverse mix in our office. Our team has closed billions in debt deals up and down the capital stack. He’ll make us better...and hopefully we’ll do the same for him,” said Craig Bjornsund, senior vice president/managing director. Bjornsund co-manages the local office with Ernest DesRochers, senior vice president/managing director.  

Murray’s diverse equity experience ranges from Summer Street Advisors where he was managing director with responsibility for CRE principal investment in debt and equity, CRE capital markets, structured finance, and equity capital raising with institutional and private investors to TH Henderson (Nuveen) where he supported the $15 billion of CRE managed accounts business, overseeing client investments in private CRE debt and equity. He also spent 12 years with Lehman Brothers, where he focused on CRE structured finance deal originations of more than $4 billion with some of the firm’s most important clients.

Murray has been an active member of PREA, CREFC, ICSC and ULI, as well as a guest lecturer for students at NYU, Georgetown, Cornell and Notre Dame.
