N.Y.C. Union Carpenters & Contractors help build handicap accessible home for an injured soldier

N.Y.C. Union Carpenters & Contractors agreed to be part of a project to help renovate an injured war victim's home into one that is handicap accessible. Corporal Christopher Levi recently returned from war and lost both of his legs. The Holbrook Fire Dept. in L.I., responded to his mother's plea for help in building a safe, handicap accessible home, and members of the N.Y.C. Union Carpenters & Contractors decided to lend a helping hand by putting up sheetrock in the home. The first floor of the home is being gutted to include wider hallways, lowered countertops, better electric and A/C functions, and new landscaping, siding, and a concrete ramp for wheelchair access. Local companies such as GTS Building Supply, P&M Doors, Prime Installation Co. and Bob Dimos, among others, have donated materials and offered their time to assist with the project.
