Moore and Campbell of Moore Corporate R.E. broker 204,000 s/f lease at Rochester Technology Park for Hammer Packaging

According to the Tryad Group, owner of the Rochester Technology Park (RTP), Hammer Packaging, one of the most well-renowned printing and packaging companies in the Rochester region, will expand its presence at the Tech Park, increasing its total space from 58,000 s/f to 204,000 s/f. The expansion is part of a move to consolidate Hammer Packaging's operations from five separate locations down to three. The company's warehouse operation, which is located on Lee Rd., will move to the Tech Park by the end of February. J. MacKenzie, Ltd., its custom paper sheeting and converting subsidiary on Commerce Dr., will move to the Tech Park by the end of this week. Both operations will join the company's finishing operations, which are already located at the Tech Park, bringing the total number of Hammer Packaging employees at RTP to 210. James Hammer, president and CEO of Hammer Packaging, said he is consolidating some of the company's operations to the Tech Park in large part because the site is centrally located, convenient to the company's corporate headquarters in Henrietta, and close to all major transportation routes. "I've been very impressed with Tryad, the new owners of RTP," Hammer said. "They have done what they said they would do, and they are truly sincere with their business interests in Rochester." Hammer Packaging will invest approximately $200,000 in the move. Detailed financial terms of the deal were undisclosed. The company joins Citigroup as the latest tenants for the Tech Park, the former Kodak Elmgrove facility. Other new tenants are expected to be announced in the near future since several lease agreements for the site are in an advanced stage of negotiations. "We are so proud to have Hammer Packaging call the Tech Park home," said Tryad Group principal Josh Yashar. "Hammer Packaging is one of the most widely respected companies in the Rochester region and we look forward to working with Jim and his team as they grow and expand their business in the years to come." Bob Moore and Paul Campbell of Moore Corporate Real Estate brokered the transaction. The 5 million s/f Tech Park was purchased by the Tryad Group in August 2007.
