Milizio of Capell Vishnick LLP named chairman of board of trustees at NMSSLI

Joseph Milizio, managing partner and head of the Business and Real Estate Practice Group at the Lake Success-based law firm Capell Vishnick LLP, has been named chairman of the board of trustees at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Long Island Chapter (NMSSLI). Milizio will replace Mindy Alpert, the former chairperson of the Long Island Chapter, who has held the position for the last three years. Milizio has been a longtime advocate in leading the fight to end the devastating effects of MS and has been a member of the NMSSLI board of trustees for 6 years. In his new role as chairman of the board of trustees at NMSSLI, Milizio will oversee the organization's fund-raising and programming efforts, as well as help to raise awareness and continue to educate the public about MS. As a board member, Milizio has served on numerous standing and event committees, including the walk committee, the governance committee and the executive committee. In addition, he has spearheaded Capell Vishnick's active involvement in philanthropic efforts on behalf of NMSSLI - which include the sponsorship of the Women Against Multiple Sclerosis Annual Spring Luncheon, fund raising dinners/golf outings and Capell Vishnick's ongoing participation in the annual MS Walk. At this year's 2007 MS Walk, Capell Vishnick was the top grossing team-- raising an impressive $65,000. Through the years, the philanthropic efforts of Milizio and Capell Vishnick have been instrumental in helping NMSSLI implement more programs and services for its members. Milizio is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he is a former chairperson of the By-Laws committee, a former chairperson of the Lawyer Referral Committee and a member of the Corporation Law, Banking Law and Real Estate Committees. He serves on the Long Island Association's Small Business Committee and is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island. In addition, he is a recipient of the 2003 MS Society Leadership Award, which recognizes Long Island's business leaders.
