Merritt Eng. completes parking garage restoration

One of Merritt Engineering's most recent projects includes the parking garage restoration at 1981 Marcus Ave. The restoration project, which began in October 2011, consists of three phases: investigation, immediate repair, and ongoing maintenance. Based on a structural survey of the 3-level parking garage, Merritt established a structural plan, appropriate budgeting as well as coordination between the client and contractor. The parking garage restoration will consist of the removal and replacement of existing asphalt, full-depth concrete replacement, installation of a new Siplast waterproofing membrane and replacement of expansion joints. In addition, Merritt has designed and specified the removal, replacement and reinforcement of the structural steel beams, columns and connectors within the parking structure. Upon completion of the structural repairs, all handrails, pavers and planters will be reinstalled and parking spaces stripped to provide full functionality and a complete aesthetic look for the garage.
