Meltzer Lippe expands tax group, hires Ruskin

The Tax Group of Long Island's business law firm, Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP has welcomed attorney Steven Ruskin to its practice. Ruskin has 35 years practicing tax law, almost all of which have been as a partner or counsel in the Manhattan offices of large multi-national law firms. "The current tax environment demands that businesses and individuals have the most experienced counsel available," said Meltzer. "The addition of Steve Ruskin to our Tax Group is reflective of both the quality of the attorneys we are able to attract to the firm, as well as the expertise of the attorneys who work here, the overwhelming majority of whom hold an LLM in Taxation degree." Ruskin's practice includes federal, state and local tax issues including mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; reorganization of corporations and partnerships, including real estate partnerships; investment funds and venture capital funds; foreign tax planning; tax audits; reorganizations of financially distressed entities; and the formation and operation of private foundations and not for profits. He provides tax advice to large and small corporations, and regularly represents partnerships, limited liability companies and not for profit entities in all aspects of their business. A frequent lecturer and writer, Ruskin has published numerous articles outlining the tax consequences of real estate workouts, S corporation operations and leveraged buyouts. Ruskin earned his LLM in Taxation from the NYU School of Law, his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School and his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Princeton University. He is admitted to the Bar in New York State. Meltzer Lippe, known as Long IslandÂ’s Business Law Firm, is one of the largest law firms on Long Island.
