Mawhirter joins Nelson + Pope as sr. project manager

Melville, NY Engineering, architecture and surveying firm Nelson + Pope (N+P) welcomed senior project manager Bruce Mawhirter, PE, LEED AP to their Transportation Department.

Mawhirter brings over 35 years of engineering and project management experience to the firm, having worked on many municipal and private projects throughout the New York Metropolitan area.

“Bruce will play a large role overseeing future projects and assisting our technical staff,” said Russell Scott, senior partner and head of the firm’s Transportation Department, “We’re all happy to have him join the team.”

As a well-rounded professional, he is skillful in overseeing technical staff, providing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and effectively supporting a diverse client-base.

Mawhirter’s civil expertise spans a wide range of areas. He maintains extensive experience managing infrastructure design projects for roadway, parking, utility and pedestrian streetscape improvements, and parks & recreational facilities. In addition, Mawhirter has a strong knowledge of drainage infrastructure acquired from his background in leading stormwater drainage resiliency and Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR) projects.

Mawhirter will contribute to the overall project management efforts of N+P’s transportation department by providing technical guidance, QA/QC services, and client support.
