Name : Julie Gibbons Title : Associate Broker Company/firm : Prudential Blake Atlantic Realtors Years with company/firm : 8 Years in field : 8+ Years in real estate industry : 8+ Address : 8 Airline Dr. Telephone : 518.464.0870 x2260 Email : [email protected] URL : [email protected] Real estate organizations/affiliations : CCIM, CIREB, GCAR What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2010? Successfully completing two CCIM classes back-to-back, while working full-time, which were quite demanding, after having not been in school for quite sometime. What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2010? Closing on a 91-unit apartment complex with the help of a colleague. A rather arduous and lenghty transaction that almost didn't happen. How do you contribute to your company and / or the industry? Always willing to learn new concepts, take new courses to say abreast of the market changes, which not only benefits the company, but more importantly my clients. I also like being a resource for some of my colleagues or just give them a pep talk on their "off" days which we all have. What advice would you give to women just starting out in commercial real estate? Have a persevering spirit! Don't give up. Luck is a result of hard work. Try to have monies set aside for the off-periods, if possible. How do you manage the work/life balance? Like some I know, we cycle, hike, ski or listen to music to rejuvenate ourselves. You need down time, away from the phones, email, ipad, etc. Connect with Mother Nature, she knows best. Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career? A very, very few, select friends who know me where I can bounce off ideas and not get shot down. Also, my manager & the owner of the company who have great faith in my capabilities and are always pushing/coaching me to go to the next level. What impact has social networking had on your business? LinkedIn has had some impact, facebook none. I find the in-person approach yields a much better result than other forms of contact such as the phones or email, etc. People want to know who they're dealing with.
