The Rochester Western New York chapter 58 of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) is sponsoring a celebratory boat cruise luncheon on June 4, during "IREM Week,"Â in conjunction with the international organization's 75th anniversary. "IREM Week" activities also will be sponsored during that same period by IREM's 87 other chapters worldwide, marking the high-point of a year-long program of anniversary related observances
The IREM was formed by 14 founding members in 1933. In 1935, IREM expanded by offering its first individual memberships to 30 real estate management professionals. Today, the organization has a total membership of almost 18,000 members.
Commenting on the significance of the anniversary milestone, chapter 58 president Nicholas Harris, CPM, said, "IREM members are committed to the belief that well-managed properties improve the quality of life for the people who live, work, and shop in them and, at the same time, build asset value for owners and investors and the total community. To these ends, we are proud that IREM and IREM members have, for over seven decades, led the effort to transform real estate management into a highly valued profession that effectively serves the interests of all of its constituencies."
According to Harris, chapter 58 will be celebrating the milestone event with a boat cruise luncheon aboard the Harbor Town Belle on June 4. The two hour cruise will leave the Port of Rochester at noon. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. The Lunch Cruise will tour the Genesee River, Irondequoit Bay, and the Rochester Shoreline.
The celebration will look back at 75 years of IREM history, its progress and successes.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the chartering of chapter 58 and the chapter will be honoring its past presidents during this event.Â
Kyle Van Putte of Van Putte Gardens will be the guest speaker, giving a presentation on the importance of curb appeal at rental properties. Van Putte is a NYS Certified Landscape Professional, with a bachelors degree in Landscape Contracting from Penn State University.
All attendees will receive a commemorative IREM 75th Anniversary keepsake. The cost for the event is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
