TiniFiber’s Micro Armor Fiber Optic Cabling Solution applied in Moynihan Train Hall Digital Displays

Manhattan, NY According to TiniFiber, a leading manufacturer of innovative, Micro armored patented fiber optic cable solutions for diverse industry applications, its Micro Armor Fiber Optic Cabling Solution is being used for the new ultra-high definition digital displays in the Moynihan Train Hall. TiniFiber Micro Armor Fiber Optic Cable provides reliable transmission of high bandwidth for excellent image quality, audio feeds and data transport. The displays will provide passenger information in the Moynihan Train Hall which opened on January 1st, 2021.

The Moynihan Train Hall, located in Midtown, was created to relieve crowding within Penn Station, New York’s transportation hub for the MTA-Long Island Railroad, as well as Amtrak. TiniFiber’s product was specified by the electrical contractor, K&D Electric. The architectural, design, engineering and planning firm involved in the Moynihan Train Hall project is Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM).

The U.S. patented and UL-approved TiniFiber Micro Armor Fiber Optic Cabling Solution was applied in all of the digital displays throughout the new Moynihan Train Hall plaza. Proving to be a major advantage over traditional Aluminum Interlocking Armor (AIA) was TiniFiber’s small size and light weight which facilitated its application in tight conduit spaces. The product is the industry’s smallest and lightest fiber optic cable at 65% smaller and 75% lighter than AIA, making it easier and faster to install. Its size and weight advantage also contributes to lower labor, shipping and warehousing costs. TiniFiber pre-terminated assemblies were also provided and further helped to maximize both labor and time efficiencies in the installation project.

Since it was introduced in 2015, TiniFiber has continued to be awarded high profile projects both for its significant size and weight advantage, as well as its other important design features. Specifically, TiniFiber features a tightly-wrapped stainless steel coil, combined with Kevlar, which gives the product unrivalled strength and resilience. This patented Micro armored stainless steel coil was designed to protect the fragile fiber glass strands and bend radius. It is crush-proof and vermin-resistant and able to withstand the harshest environmental conditions. This durability combined with its flexibility and small dimensions makes it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications. These include commercial, mass transit, airport and infrastructure projects, data centers, broadband and Fiber-to-the-Home, 5G rollouts, DAS/wireless networks, security and audio-visual projects.
