Technico Construction begins $124 million restoration/preservation of Lexington Ave. Armory

Manhattan, NY Technico Construction Services, Inc. has begun the $124 million restoration and preservation of the historic Lexington Avenue Armory at 68 Lexington Ave. Built in 1906, this landmark has stood as both a military hub and cultural venue for generations.
Over the next three years, Technico will transform the180,000 s/f structure through the restoration of 18 historic spaces, installation of new freight and passenger elevators, the addition of five RTUs, prefab boiler modules and structural concrete reinforcements for a new access ramp. Technico’s work will also include extensive repairs to the 100-ft. drill hall roof and the creation of ballistic-resistant arms vaults.
Preservation efforts will focus on intricate woodworking for wall paneling, restoration of over 20 fireplaces, replication of historical lighting, and repair of architecturally detailed plaster ceilings.
Technico Construction is serving as the general contractor. The owner/developer is the New York State Office of General Services (OGS), the architect is Marvel Designs and the civil engineer is Dewberry.
