Rochester, NY Representatives from SWBR Architects and St. John’s received the Award of Merit at the Environments for Aging Design Showcase in Austin, Tex., earlier this month. The award recognizes Brickstone by St. John’s as a unique and innovative project that is distinctly different from traditional senior living communities.

The collaboration between St. John’s and SWBR Architects  was designed to reinvent the concept of senior living by embracing new urbanism. SWBR Architects served as architect of record for the Brickstone project.

Nearly 50 projects were submitted in this year’s showcase, an annual review of projects in senior-care settings, from conceptual designs to newly completed buildings. The jury panel included architects, interior designers, providers and consultants.

SWBR Architects is an award-winning architectural practice. As a highly respected national design firm consistently providing leadership, expertise, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, the firm specializes in sustainability, education, housing, health, science and technology, corporate/industrial and municipal design.
