Quartararo of JLL elected president of Scout board

The Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America, elected Raymond Quartararo, vice chairman of JLL, as president of the Scout board of directors at the organization's annual meeting. Quartararo, who serves as president of JLL's regional project and development services group, will lead efforts to encourage more youth and adults to join and support Scouting in his new role as the top volunteer of the New York City Scout organization. Quartararo is active in a number of industry and philanthropic organizations, and has volunteered with the Boy Scouts since 2007. Quartararo has provided significant leadership to the Boy Scouts through the JLL Good Scout Reception and the annual Real Estate "Good Scout" Luncheon. Ray is a former Scout. He and his wife Lynn reside in Rye, with their two sons who are active in Scouting. Quartararo especially enjoys the Troop camping trips. "It is an honor to serve the Boy Scouts and to encourage more young people to join and remain active in Scouting," Quartararo said. "By helping to raise the visibility of Scouting among volunteers and youth, we can transform lives and enhance our community." At the annual meeting, the Boy Scouts publicly recognized the distinguished volunteer leadership of outgoing Board President, Alair A. Townsend. Townsend's tenure was highlighted by several notable successes, including serving 45,614 boys and girls (a 7 percent increase in the number of youth served); four consecutive years of balanced budgets; an elimination of the Scouts long-term debt; and the hiring of Eagle Scout Ethan Draddy to serve as Scout Executive and Chief Executive Officer. Draddy has brought significant energy to the Greater New York Councils and is working to raise the visibility of Scouting, and to expand the volunteer capacity of the Scouts to serve an ever-increasing number of children throughout the diverse communities of New York City. Alair will continue her service to New York City youth as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors alongside Distinguished Eagle Scout, the Honorable John C. Whitehead. Eagle Scout Tom Bain, Managing Director at Blackrock, will continue his service as Council Commissioner. Scouting is dependent on the dedicated efforts of thousands of individuals and organizations who volunteer their time and talent to make a difference in the lives of New York City children.
