Outside the Region: KDV welcomes Liebman as a new employment practices liability partner

Ft. Lauderdale, FL According to Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP, (KDV) Bruce Liebman has joined the firm as an employment practices liability (EPL) partner. In addition, Edward McNamara joins as an insurance coverage and litigation associate. With these moves, KDV strengthens two of its hallmark practices in the state.

Liebman will be co-managing partner of KDV’s Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton offices. Liebman and McNamara join KDV from Fowler-White Burnett where Liebman was a partner and McNamara was an associate.

Liebman’s practice focuses on employment defense matters including wage and hour litigation and class actions, employment discrimination, harassment, whistleblower, age and retaliation claims, preventative counseling and advice and training for employers and human resources personnel on managing the workplace and complying with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. He also represents international and domestic hospitality companies and casinos in the area of liability, collections and gaming issues.

“Bruce has more than 15 years of experience including first chair trial experience in employment discrimination and commercial litigation in federal court and has an outstanding reputation working with EPLI and D&O carriers in the representation of their insureds,” said Ivan Dolowich, co-managing partner of KDV. “We are making a concerted effort to grow our core practices in Florida, including EPL, D&O, financial services and professional liability, and the addition of Bruce and Ted demonstrate our commitment to reinforce our services for our Florida clients and those doing business there.”

“I have known Ivan for many years and have seen KDV’s steady growth nationwide over the past few years,” said Liebman. “I am committed to working to both expand our EPL practice in Florida, where the number of wage and hour violations has mushroomed, and partnering with Gregg Breitbart, co-managing partner in Florida, to increase KDV’s footprint in the state.”

Liebman earned his B.A. from Tulane University and his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center.

McNamara works with insurers, self-insureds and businesses on a broad range of litigation matters, including individual disability insurance and ERISA claims, life insurance, insurance coverage, contract disputes and bad faith. He advises clients on matters governed by ERISA, particularly with respect to group benefit plans and insurance policies. He also represents clients in EPL matters, including discrimination claims, age and retaliation claims, whistleblower actions and wage and hour disputes and provides advise on revisions to employee-related policies and handbooks.

McNamara earned his B.A. from California State University Long Beach cum laude and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law where he served on the Moot Court Board.

“KDV is making inroads in the Southeast,” said Breitbart, co-managing partner of KDV’s Florida offices and co-chair of the KDV Financial Services Practice Group.  “Bruce and I are focused on offering clients based and doing business in the Southeast with a wide range of EPL, insurance coverage, professional liability and financial services representation.”
