NAIOP upstate chapter hosts 14th Annual Awards Gala in Buffalo
On November 7, the NAIOP upstate chapter will host its 14th Annual Awards Dinner at the Brookfield Country Club. Joining the chapter's premier event, are representatives from NAIOP National, headquartered in Washington, D.C. This years winners include:
*"Station 55" in Rochester by Costanza Enterprises. The firm turned an old historic railroad warehouse in the Public Market area of the city into 17 SoHo-style artists lofts along with an entire floor of market space dedicated to WNY artists and artisans.
* The Historic Award goes to Iskalo Development Corp. for their renovation of the Electric Tower on Washington St. in the downtown area. The tower was built by General Electric and opened in 1912. It was patterned after the Tower of Light from the Pan American Exposition in 1901. Iskalo Development acquired the building from Niagara Mohawk in 2004 and has undertaken the renovation of the 14 -story building that consists of 120,000 s/f of class A office space with six octagon shaped "tower" floors.
* The New Construction Adaptive Re-Use of a Brownfield Site Award goes to XLI Corp.'s new building designed by Edge Architecture, PLLC. The 32,000 s/f building was constructed on the former Emerson St. Landfill in Rochester.
* The New Construction Adaptive Re-Use of a Brownfield Site Award was also given for the Hydro Air Components, Inc. building, which was designed and built by The Krog Corp. They built a 152,000 s/f HVAC equipment manufacturing plant which was built on a Brownfield site and incorporated innovative European engineering and "green" building concepts into the structure.
* The Mixed-Use Development Award goes to MARK IV Construction Co., Inc. for their Corn Hill Landing project along the Genesee River in downtown Rochester. This mixed-use addition to downtown incorporated both service shops and destination retailing, and rental housing with a range of target markets and rental rates. The site plan was based on the New Urbanism principle.
* The Innovative New Age Interior Office Design Award will be presented to One Communication for the Galileo Room they designed in the HSBC Plaza Building in Rochester. This design offers individual computer work stations along with modern easily re-arranged group meeting areas.
After the awards presentation, guests will be entertained by comedian Tiny Glover.
