Housing Visions breaks ground on 28-unit, $7.6 million Loguen Homes development

The construction of new housing on the near east side has officially begun, as Housing Visions broke ground on its 28-unit, $7.6 million housing development. Loguen Homes is a continuation of the revitalization efforts undertaken by Housing Visions. Loguen Homes accomplishes two major goals: developing high quality, attractive housing units, and offering well-managed and affordable housing in the neighborhood. The 11 properties included in the project are 201, 309, 311 and 313 Lexington Ave., 207 S. Beech St., 1220 E. Fayette St. (two houses), 306 and 310 Pine St. The ground breaking ceremony was held at Housing Visions' headquarters at 1201 E. Fayette St., which is directly across the street from the 1220 E. Fayette St. site. Housing Visions Construction Co. is the general contractor of the project. Deborah VanAmerongen, commissioner of the Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) said, "Loguen Homes is part of Housing Visions' continuous efforts to revitalize neighborhoods throughout Syracuse. DHCR is proud to be a part of this preservation effort that will result in 28 units of quality, energy-efficient affordable housing for Syracuse residents." Mayor Matthew Driscoll said, "The Loguen Homes project stands as part of a larger vision of neighborhood revitalization throughout our city. It is an example of community partners working together to make critical improvements in all of our neighborhoods." This project is moving forward through cooperative efforts of the NYS Housing Finance Agency, the NYS DHCR, NYS Housing Trust Fund Corp., the Syracuse Industrial Development Agency, ARISE, the city of Syracuse and the support of mayor Driscoll, state senator David Valesky, assemblywoman Joan Christensen, Key Community and Development Corp. (KCDC), and KeyBank National Association.
