Hines earns 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award

According to Hines, the global real estate investment, development and property manager, it is a recipient of the 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. This is the 19th time Hines has been recognized and the 16th time Hines has received the Sustained Excellence Award.

“We are honored to be recognized yet again by the EPA and DOE as a changemaker in real estate and investment management for our ambitious ESG strategy and its global impact,” said Laura Hines-Pierce, co-CEO at Hines. “Especially with our recent commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, this award solidifies that Hines’ efforts are creating a notable impact that everyone within the firm can feel proud of.”

Hines’ portfolio of ENERGY STAR buildings consists of 175 facilities and more than 82.7 million s/f. With an average performance rating of 81, the portfolio is 31% more energy efficient than the national average, according to ENERGY STAR portfolio manager.

“As we accelerate historic efforts to address climate change, public-private partnerships will be essential to realizing the scale of our ambition,” said EPA administrator Michael Regan. “I applaud this year’s ENERGY STAR award winners for working with EPA to deliver a clean energy future that saves American consumers and businesses money and creates jobs.”

Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy achievements. ENERGY STAR award winners lead their industries in the production, sale, and adoption of energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies. These efforts are essential to fighting the climate crisis and protecting public health.
