Dumbo Improvement Dist. appoints Kerrigan exec. dir.

The Dumbo Improvement District has appointed Kate Kerrigan as its next executive director. Kerrigan was formerly a vice president of the Alliance for Downtown New York. Kerrigan will be responsible for creating and implementing the Improvement District's economic development strategies, advancing its ongoing capital projects, directing its supplemental sanitation and security services and leading the Improvement District's innovative "green" initiative, SEED (Smart Environment Efforts in DUMBO). Kerrigan, who has a J.D. from New York Law School, Evening Division, has studied at NYU's Real Estate Institute and holds an A.B. in Urban Studies and in English from Brown University.   The Dumbo Improvement District advocates on behalf of the small business owners, property holders, neighborhood residents and community stakeholders in DUMBO, Brooklyn.  The organization is dedicated to the enhancement of DUMBO's public spaces through advocacy, programming, fundraising and long-term planning.
