DiMarco honored with STEP award from ABC Empire State Chapter

For the fifth consecutive year, DiMarco Constructors LLC, a member of The DiMarco Group family of companies, has been honored with a Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Empire State Chapter. The reward is a result of cumulative improvements to safety training and initiatives that the company has developed over the past five years. Those improvements have resulted in the highest achievable STEP recognition for DiMarco Constructors, the 2013 Diamond Award. Each year, DiMarco Constructors has incrementally improved its safety scores, receiving a Bronze Award in 2010, Gold in 2011, Platinum in 2012, and now the highest available, the Diamond Award in 2013. Mike Laboski, director of HSE and risk management for The DiMarco Group, hosts programs and training initiatives at the company, focused on topics such as OSHA standards, specific heavy equipment uses and evacuation. "Receiving the highest possible level of STEP recognition this year is an honor and is a direct reflection of the commitment our entire team has to ensuring a safe work environment," Laboski said. "From senior management to field personnel to corporate office staff, every person in the organization plays a role in maintaining the highest level of safety standards." STEP was established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety Committee to assist ABC member contractors in evaluating and improving corporate safety practices and recognize outstanding safety training efforts. STEP awards are presented annually in six categories: Participant, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Each year, more than 2,000 contractors of various sizes participate in the STEP program.
