Design AIDD renovate 3 sound studios at 333 Hudson

Design AIDD Architects, PLLC is introducing a creative point view to three sound studios at 333 Hudson St., between Varick and Charlton Sts. The architects are implementing renovations and enhancements to Gary's Chop Shop, Sound Lounge, and Black Spot studios, which include designing a complete office build-out and converting a single floor studio into a duplex. The principals of Design AIDD combined their talents to bring each space to life. They fulfilled Black Spot's need for additional space with the installation of a modernized interior staircase connecting the fifth floor to the lower-level studios. Black Spot studio boasts an impressive team of sound engineers and technicians with up to 15 years of post production experience at NBC's Saturday Night Live, Comedy Central, ESPN, VH1, and the Food Network channels. The team has also redesigned entire floors at 333 Hudson St., comprising the eighth floor, where the entrance of the 5,000 s/f Sound Lounge was updated with a new office entrance. The Sound Lounge features 13 production and mix suites for audio production, recording, and television scoring. In addition, Design AIDD spearheaded a complete build out of Gary's Chop Shop sound studio with a custom sound room and glass garage door. The 500 s/f studio is owned and managed by three-time Emmy award-winning Gary Arnold. "As the architects of the building, we are always there when needed," said David Kirschenbaum, a co-founding principal of Design AIDD. "These were great projects for us, and the feedback we received already exceeds expectations." Established in 2007, Design AIDD Architects, PLLC is spearheaded by a team that includes four founding principals, comprising Andrea Harris, RA, AIA, LEED-AP; Ian Pinto, Associate AIA; David Kirschenbaum, Associate AIA and Dan Heyden, RA, AIA, LEED-AP, Certified Passive House Consultant.
